Just on the other side of the Caldecott Tunnel  ~ which runs from Berkeley ~ you will find the beautiful town of Orinda in Contra Costa County which is a part of what is commonly referred to as “LaMorinda.” You may not need sunglasses on the Berkeley side, but keep them handy in the tunnel because as soon as you cross through to the East side, you’ll typically be needing them.

Orinda continues to make a mark on the region with the beautifully restored art deco Orinda Theatre, the California Shakespeare Theater, and a popular Community Center and Public Library in the center of town. The area is characterized by a warm-summer Mediterranean climate with cool, rainy winters and warm, dry summers. Because Orinda is located in a hilly area, microclimates often dominate temperature differences in short distances.

Orinda is well known for its charming downtown area, wonderful parks, and fantastic school system.
